S004 ACID RADIATOR (I)
-
Radiator (I) is a wall-mounted work built around a hand-formed neon “radiator,” conceived as an illuminated element held in tension with a ceramic vessel.
The tube is made from acid green and UV-transmitting (blacklight) glass, with a fluorescent phosphor coating that intensifies the color and gives the line a charged, electric presence.
The radiator is set within a hand-formed ceramic plate fused to an aircraft aluminum cabinet and designed to mount directly to the wall, reading as both object and relief. The piece activates its surrounding surface—casting colored light and shadow within and around the ceramic form.
The work is built as a set of contrasts: the ceramic’s earthen mass and irregular edge against the radiator’s crisp geometry; the softness of clay against the engineered presence of aluminum; light treated as a material that seems to press, hover, and radiate.
